Kristin School
School Introduction

Kristin School is an independent, co-educational school of over 1600 students, based in Albany on Auckland's North Shore. It welcomes students from Year 1 to Year 13, with its Little Doves Early Learning Centre & Kindergarten also caring for children from 6 months to 5 years old.

Over 45 years the school has built Kristin into a nurturing community where children of all ages feel a sense of belonging. Its goal is to help them think creatively, reason critically, communicate effectively and learn enthusiastically throughout life.

ONE CAMPUS, FOUR SCHOOLS.s

The Junior, Middle and Senior Schools are all on the same campus – 50 acres of park-like grounds with state-of-the-art facilities. The littlest children enjoy a stunning Early Learning Centre & Kindergarten environment within the Kristin campus.

• The Junior School caters for students from Year 1 to Year 6

• The Middle School for Years 7-10

• The Senior School for Years 11-13

• Little Doves is a newly established Early Learning Centre & Kindergarten, taking care of children from 6 months to 5 years old

The school’s vision is to provide students with an exceptional all-round education that prepares them to be responsible global citizens who think creativity, reason critically, communicate effectively and learn enthusiastically through life.

School Curriculum

Little Doves (6 months-5 years)

Little Doves’ aim is to have children well prepared for school, with a solid foundation of literacy, numeracy, and social skills. It uses an IB curriculum with inquiry learning at its foundation. But it is also in no hurry to force learning either – Little Doves know it comes naturally, at a time that’s right for each child, and it prepares each individually to take their next step into a bright future.

Junior School (Year 0-6)

In the primary years, there is an imperative to stimulate all corners of a child's developing brain. Junior School curriculum is rich and varied, ensuring all children experience a breadth of experiences to ignite interest and ensure engagement.

Middle School (Year 7-10)

Engagement and challenge are at the heart of learning in the Middle School. Their IB Middle Years Programme is inquiry based, meaning that every unit of work begins with a question.

Senior School (Year 11-13)

Kristin offers a Dual Academic Pathway in the Senior School, which allows students to choose between the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or NCEA in Year 12 and 13. In its 45 year rise to become one of the New Zealand's leading independent schools, Kristin was the first school in New Zealand to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, and the first school in New Zealand authorised to offer the IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programmes alongside the New Zealand National Curriculum to Junior, Middle and Senior School students.
