New Zealand Language Centres (NZLC), founded in 1984, provide a wide range of quality English programmes. NZLC is a private training establishment registered by NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority). NZLC was rated “Highly Confident in educational performance” and “Highly confident in capability in self-assessment” in its most recent review. With these EER (External Evaluation Review) results, NZLC is deemed a Category 1 provider.
Campuses are located in New Zealand’s largest cities: Auckland and Wellington. NZLC motivates students to speak only English and improve as much as they can while at NZLC. It provides a range of great accommodation options to suit students’ needs.
INTRODUCTION OF LANGUAGE COURSES:
NZLC has a wide range of quality English programmes including General English, IELTS, Business English, Cambridge English, Pathway Programme, NZQA Approved English Test, TOEIC, Young Learners Courses, English Teacher Training, and Group Study Tours.
The courses are suitable for all levels (beginner to advanced), which are communicative, practical and fun. The courses lead to a variety of further NZLC course options, and are a Pathway to NZLC Academic and English Teacher Training Courses; and Graduation Certificate and Academic Report are offered.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) assesses the English language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. NZLC Wellington offers IELTS course aiming Band scores of 5.0 – 6.5. This is approximately equivalent to strong Intermediate to Advanced in General English.
Practical everyday skills you need to succeed in a working environment and in international business. The course is very practical and focuses on commonly used English and communication skills at work. Topics covered include business etiquette in different cultures, interview techniques, meetings and telephone skills.
· FCE (B2 First): It covers the four main language skills – reading, (+ use of English) writing, listening and speaking. Cambridge English FCE (B2 First), is a thorough test of all areas of language ability at an Upper Intermediate level. An FCE A Pass is accepted by Immigration New Zealand in the Skilled Migrant Category.
· CAE (C1 Advanced): Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), is a thorough test of all areas of language ability at an Advanced level and the format of the exam is divided into Reading (+ Use of English), Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
University Pathway Massey University. No IELTS score is required but must meet Massey University´s academic requirements for the applied programmes. NZLC works with over 20 Pathway Partners – Polytechnics and PTE Pathways.
TOEIC, (the Test of English for International Communication), questions are based on real-life work settings in an international environment such as meetings, travel and telephone conversations. This is a part time course and can be combined with most other courses at NZLC Auckland. The lessons focus on skills and techniques for both the listening and reading tests.
· High School Preparation: NZLC Auckland is accredited by NZQA for young learners between 13 and 17 years. General English / High School Preparation course is guaranteed to run throughout the year. The programme is specially designed for young learners and students who are looking to go to a local NZ high school.
· English + Activities: NZLC Auckland is accredited by NZQA for young learners between 13 and 17 years, and this fun and exciting programme incorporates a morning of interactive English lessons taught by friendly, fun teachers and an afternoon of cultural and sightseeing activities around Auckland.
· Cambridge CELTA:CELTA is an international recognized teacher training course that will give you the qualification you need to teach English as a second language in English and non-English speaking countries. CELTA courses are run at Cambridge English Teaching Awards approved centres worldwide.
· TESOL + Cambridge TKT:This NZQA approved course is based on best practice in communicative language teaching and includes peer teaching as well as assessed teaching with real students. It also prepares students for the TKT Modules 1, 2 and 3 awarded by Cambridge English Teaching Qualifications.
· TECSOL + Cambridge TKT:This NZQA approved course is based on best practice in communicative language teaching and includes peer teaching as well as a visit to a local primary school. It also prepares students for the TKT YL module awarded by Cambridge English Teaching Qualifications.
· Cambridge TKT:TKT Young Learners and TKT Modules 1, 2 and 3 are tests that focuses on the teaching knowledge needed by English language teachers. Students will receive a certificate for each completed TKT Module. NZLC Auckland is an approved Cambridge TKT Testing Centre.
